Kansas has 21 congressional candidates for 4 seats in US House

Kansas voters have a total of 21 candidates to pick from to represent them in four seats in the U.S. House.

Kansas has four congressional districts, and all four incumbents are running for reelection. They all also have primary challengers. Each race has at least one Republican and Democrat who filed before the June 1 filing deadline.

The primary election is Aug. 4.

Each race also has a Libertarian who will appear on the ballot for the Nov. 3 general election.

Below are the candidates who filed with the Kansas Secretary of State's Office.

1st Congressional District

U.S. Rep. Tracey Mann, a Republican from Salina, is the incumbent.

He has a primary challenger in Craig Musser, a Republican from Ellinwood.

There is a contested Democratic primary between Colin McRoberts and Lauren Reinhold. Both are from Lawrence.

Steven Jacob, a Libertarian from Lawrence, is the only third-party candidate to file for the race and will appear on the general election ballot.

2nd Congressional District

U.S. Rep. Derek Schmidt, a Republican from Independence, is the incumbent.

He has a primary challenger in Chad E. Young, a Republican from Lawrence.

The only Democrat in the race is Don Coover, of Galesburg.

John Hauer, a Libertarian from Topeka, is the only third-party candidate to file for the race and will appear on the general election ballot.

3rd Congressional District

U.S. Rep. Sharice L. Davids, a Democrat from Roeland Park, is the incumbent.

She has a primary challenger in Sarah Preu, a Democrat from Fairway.

There is a contested Republican primary between Eric Jenkins, of Shawnee, and Chase LaPorte, of Mission.

Steven A Hohe, a Libertarian from Shawnee, is the only third-party candidate to file for the race and will appear on the general election ballot.

4th Congressional District

U.S. Rep. Ron Estes, a Republican from Wichita, is the incumbent.

He has a primary challenger in Frank A. McCollum, a Republican from Fall River.

There is a contested Democratic primary among Katy Tyndell, of Wichita; Chris Carmichael, of Andover; Cole Epley, of Bel Aire; and Ryan Gilbert, of Goddard.

Drew Cranmer, a Libertarian from Wichita, is the only third-party candidate to file for the race and will appear on the general election ballot.
