Former President Joe Biden's Department of Justice and special counsel Jack Smith's politically motivated surveillance of Republican lawmakers would be shocking if it was not such an expected politicization, according to Rep. Russell Fry, R-S.C.

"This is apropos, unfortunately, for what we've seen from Jack Smith," Fry told Newsmax on Monday. "He fabricated a ton of stuff in his investigation, wasted $50 million.

"It was all a partisan charade in the weaponization of our federal government against political opponents. And it's a sad day," he said on "Carl Higbie FRONTLINE."

FBI Director Kash Patel is providing transparency and accountability once and for all, according to Fry.

"And, like Kash Patel says, we're closing the door on that chapter in our history where we target people based on the content of their speech and who is our political opponent," Fry concluded.
