Scott Perry’s votes hurt families in his district, but he won’t face them | PennLive letters
U.S. Rep. Scott Perry continues to cast votes and propose amendments in the name of the people of the 10th Congressional District which are antithetical to America’s national interests and cause great human suffering.
I am writing this letter to you, instead of Mr. Perry, as Mr. Perry doesn’t answer the letters I write to him. He also doesn’t respond to the press. Nor will he engage directly with voters through in-person town halls.
His latest amendment to “zero-out” programs meant to project American power in other countries - - as a counter weight to China and Russia - - including the Peace Corps, will soon be put before the U.S. House of Representatives for a vote.
In early June, he voted to cut food aid to over 5 million mothers, young children, and pregnant women under the WIC program. Only $13 a month will go to breastfeeding mothers for fruit and vegetables (down from $52 a month), and only $10 a month will go to fruit and vegetables for young children (down from $26 a month), according to the National WIC Association.
He voted twice for the law that cuts Medicare, Medicaid, and SNAP benefits. He also refused to provide affordable health insurance to working families under the Affordable Care Act.
I just want to make clear that when Congressman Perry acts like this, he does so without my consent. I am sure I am not the only constituent who feels this way.
