Sharice Davids says she's fighting to protect American benefits
“Not only did Republicans give massive tax breaks to corporations and the ultra-wealthy, not only did they make the largest cut to American health care in history, but now it is clear Republicans have brought Social Security closer to running out of money,” Wyden said.
Davids confirmed Tuesday that Congress is expecting an update on the future of Social Security.
While Congress is not under a strict deadline to address the future of Social Security, according to the Social Security Administration, the program’s combined Old-Age and Survivors Insurance and Disability Insurance Trust Funds are projected to have enough dedicated revenue to pay scheduled benefits and administrative costs until 2032.

“If Congress does nothing to protect your benefits, 70 million Americans will see a 20% cut in their benefits in the next six years,” Davids said.
Davids emphasized that Americans could face a decrease of hundreds of dollars in their monthly benefits, saying, “I’m fighting to protect and strengthen your hard-earned benefits, before the clock runs out and you face a $500 cut to your monthly benefits.”
