Sen. Capito Easily Wins West Virginia GOP Primary
Incumbent Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., coasted to victory Tuesday night in West Virginia's Republican primary, securing the nomination for November's election.
Newsmax and DecisionDesk HQ called the race for Capito. With roughly 50% of the vote counted, Capito had 65.9%, well ahead of state Sen. Tom Willis at 19.1% and four other candidates.
Capito, 72, who was endorsed by President Donald Trump, is seeking a third term. She chairs the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works and is also West Virginia's first female senator.
