Rep. Steve Womack announces death of wife, Terri

Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Terri Lynn Williams Womack, the wife of Rep. Steve Womack, has died after a brief illness, the Republican from Arkansas announced Tuesday.

"Sunday afternoon, Heaven welcomed an angel. My wife of 41 years, Terri Womack, went to live in eternity with Jesus," Womack said in a post on X.

"My heart is broken and that space remains without her presence. I take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering in pain and is at peace evermore," he continued.

"Her legacy of love will live in the hearts of all who knew her. Our family appreciates the outpouring of prayers and support. You have all honored her in such a special way, and we are eternally grateful."

An obituary described Terri Womack, 68, as an "excellent cook" and an "avid landscaper" who loved her three children, four grandchildren and the family pets, according to The Hill.

'With all boys, she was confined to learning and participating in the rough-and-tumble activities of those kids," the obituary said.

Womack did not mention the type of illness that Terri had, but USA Today earlier cited a White House official saying she recently had been diagnosed with abdominal cancer, among other health problems.
