Crypto super PAC putting money behind Ben Cline, Suhas Subramanyam
A cryptocurrency super PAC is committing money to back 32 U.S. House candidates in the 2026 midterms, including two Virginia incumbents, one on each side of the aisle.
Per reporting from CNBC and Politico, Fairshake and its affiliated super PACs are backing Ben Cline, the Republican incumbent in the Sixth District, and Suhas Subramanyam, the Democratic incumbent in the 10th District.
Subramanyam’s district, which is based in the Northern Virginia suburbs, is rated as solid D by the Cook Political Report.
Subramanyam won the district in 2024 by 4.6 points; Abigail Spanberger, in the 2025 cycle, won the 10th by 20.5 points.
Cook has Cline’s Sixth as a Solid R district; Republican candidates have won 17 congressional races in a row in the Sixth dating back to the 1992 cycle.
Subramanyam is getting token opposition from a Republican challenger, Dave Beckwith, who has barely raised any money for his campaign – just over $100,000 as of his last financial report.
Cline, though ostensibly in just as safe a district, has a challenger in Beth Macy who has actually outraised him to date by nearly a quarter of a million dollars, so, she’s at least viable money-wise.
That could seem to suggest that while the Fairshake folks are giving Subramanyam a token campaign contribution to curry good favor, whatever they’re about to throw at Cline could carry some weight.
“Fairshake has always been and always will be an issue-focused organization. We back pro-crypto candidates who support American innovation in both parties,” a spokesperson for Fairshake, Geoff Vetter, said in a statement.
Per reporting from Politico, Fairshake gets the money it distributes to candidates Coinbase, Ripple and the venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz.
It ended August with more than $120 million in the bank across its three super PACs.
The Macy campaign put out a release noting the infusion of cash from the crypto folks to try to boost the efforts of Cline noting that the MAGA congressman voted last year in favor of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, which would have put regulatory oversight for the crypto sector into the hands of a Justice Department that acts as the personal law firm of a president who reported $1.4 billion in crypto earnings in 2025.
“Ben Cline wants to be the first official Crypto-Congressman. Cline voted for the crypto industry’s agenda, and now crypto is returning the favor by spending to keep Cline in office,” Macy said.
“That’s Washington working exactly the way Ben Cline likes it — for the people with the biggest checkbooks, especially if their bank account is full of cryptocurrency. When I am in Congress, I will end these pay-to-play schemes,” Macy said.
