PORTLAND (WGME) -- Senator Susan Collins says all ICE agents will start wearing body cameras in about a month.

Collins met with the acting head of DHS Thursday morning.

She says the director told her body cameras will begin to ship next week to ICE field offices around the country, and all agents will be wearing them in the field by the end of August.

She also says she met with DHS about the ICE shooting earlier this month that killed a man in Biddeford and, at her request, DHS will prioritize Maine first for getting body cameras.

Collins says the cameras will be paid for with $20 million she helped to secure as head of the Appropriations Committee earlier this year.
