Susan Collins, good for feminists? | Letter
As a lifelong Democrat and a voter who, given the opportunity, would likely have voted for Ms. Cynthia Dill, I’m writing to express my profound disappointment with her opinion piece in the Sunday, Aug. 2 edition of the Maine Sunday Telegram (“Susan Collins is a feminist’s best investment”).
Nothing could be further from the truth than this pronouncement. Apart from giving Sen. Collins a “hall pass” for her vote for Brett Kavanaugh, Ms. Dill is wrong on several accounts.
The op-ed conveniently ignored Sen. Collins’ initial support of the so-called “big, beautiful bill” that disproportionately disadvantages millions of women and children, many of whom have already lost health insurance and access to healthcare (take the loss of birthing centers here in Maine as an example).
