Susan Collins

Earlier this year, Sen. Susan Collins voted to give ICE and Border Patrol an extra $70 billion in funding. Her “yes” vote came in spite of the fact that ICE’s surge in Maine in January made clear that the agency is acting like an out-of-control army of thugs. Collins voted to continue ICE’s abominable activity, if not to expand it.

So now we have ICE killing a person in Maine, days after the killing in Houston, Texas. Our national and state media has feasted on allegations about Graham Platner’s personal life for months — while thoroughly ignoring the people and policies that Collins has aided and abetted in her role as U.S. senator.

Now that Platner’s out of the race, how about demanding answers from Collins? Starting with her responsibility for the shooting in Biddeford, moving on to her responsibility for putting alleged sexual abuser Brett Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court. There’s plenty more fertile ground in debunking the great “moderate” myth that way too many lazy reporters have parroted.
