Susan Collins’ false advertising on healthcare | Letter
Are Maine voters watching those slick commercials of a smiling Sen. Susan Collins helping people with their medical needs? They shouldn’t be bamboozled.
Sen. Collins voted to affirm the nominations of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Mehmet Oz, who, between them, are cutting critical health services and organizations, including Medicaid and Medicare.
Sen. Collins voted last June to advance the “big, beautiful bill,” which made mammoth cuts to health coverage and resulted in closures of rural hospitals and clinics. Collins repeatedly voted against the Affordable Care Act extensions and tax credits, resulting in losses of insurance coverage, as well as increases of the cost of existing coverage.
Her vote for Brett Kavanaugh severely damaged American women’s ability to access reproductive healthcare.
Collins has skipped Senate hearings on medical debt, healthcare cost and women’s health. (Why should she, a multimillionaire, care?) One of these key votes occurred immediately after a $2 million donation from a Wall Street billionaire to a PAC supporting Collins’ reelection effort.
Don’t be fooled! Sen. Collins does not care about our health.
