'Obviously not true': Sen. Collins responds to barbs from Graham Platner's victory speech
PORTLAND (WGME) – Democrat Graham Platner easily won the nomination Tuesday to run against Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine) this fall.
Platner survived several campaign controversies, including the discovery of a tattoo that resembles a Nazi symbol, the revelation he sent sexually explicit messages to other woman while married and a former girlfriend accusing him of toxic behavior.
In his acceptance speech Tuesday night, Platner attacked Collins and her voting record, calling her spineless and corrupt, and criticizing how often she voted along party lines.

That includes her vote to confirm conservative Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
"Well, that's obviously not true,” Collins said. “The people of Maine know me well, and I know them well."
Collins' vote was critical in Kavanaugh’s confirmation, who was narrowly confirmed in 2018 despite claims of sexual misconduct when he was younger.
