I am a registered independent. I never vote along party lines. I am concerned about issues and policy.

I have no ad hominem attack to level against Graham Platner. I’ve never met him, I’ve never had a conversation with him, and I have no true idea what sort of person he might be. I think I’m being fair.

Sen. Susan Collins gets hit from both sides. On the right, she’s an unacceptable RINO. On the left, she’s a Trump flunky. In reality, I think she is a moderate Republican, and this republic could use a whole lot more moderate members of Congress.

The importance of a senator is the generated impact upon the welfare of the state represented.

To be fully blunt, I think anyone who would vote against a sitting senator who is the chair of the Appropriations Committee is an outright fool.

Let’s say Platner is elected. He’ll be a freshman senator. He will have little idea how the apparatus works. He will not be assigned to any major committees for quite some time. Any legislation he introduces will likely make no headway amongst the holders of senatorial power. He essentially will be deadweight for Maine for at least a few years.

Collins knows fully how the game is played. She is well respected within the halls of Congress. She will be able to secure the best possible advantages for the state.

It is only about the state. I cannot see any way in which she hasn’t been, or will not be, a boon to the state of Maine.
