Sen. Tammy Baldwin speaks on reproductive rights
WASHINGTON, D.C. (WEAU) - Four years ago, the Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade, ending federal protections for abortion.
On Wednesday, Wisconsin Democratic Senator Tammy Baldwin spoke on how she wants the public to stay aware and fight for reproductive rights.
In 2022, Wisconsin’s abortion law reverted to 1849 and a criminal ban.
Baldwin says the threats to women’s reproductive healthcare didn’t end there. The senator pointed to a portion of the Big Beautiful Bill that cut off funding for Planned Parenthood.
“These attacks haven’t stopped. And they aren’t going to stop unless we make it clear in law that American people do not want their government or their elected representatives making decisions about their bodies,” said Baldwin.
Baldwins says in the near future, she will be leading the democratic caucus on the women’s health protection act, legislation that would legalize abortion nationwide.
