Sen. Duckworth condemns Democrats' deleted Memorial Day post about 'Trump's war with Iran'
Illinois Democrat Gov. Tammy Duckworth on Memorial Day condemned a now-deleted post by the Democrats referencing the war in Iran.
The post, which is now deleted, read, “Today, we honor the American heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for Trump’s war with Iran.”
Attached was a picture of the 13 U.S. soldiers who died in the Iran war.
Duckworth, a U.S. army reserve veteran, condemned the post on X and on Facebook.
“It is incredibly distasteful to use our heroic dead for a political attack on Memorial Day,” she wrote in a post on X. “I’m a Democrat and I condemn this post by the DNC.”
Many leaders in the U.S. government paid their respects to fallen soldiers on Memorial Day on Monday.
President Donald Trump gave a tribute at Arlington National Cemetery.
“From 1776 to 2026, America has always stood as a great and moral cause,” Trump said. “Our warriors are no mere mercenaries, they are guardian angels who stride across the battlefields of history and stand watch over the highest and most beautiful planes the human spirit has ever seen — holding the line between liberty and tyranny, between civilization and barbarism, between good and evil.”
