Humiliated Ted Cruz savaged after deleting Dolly Parton tribute post following huge gaffe
A red-faced Sen. Ted Cruz was forced to delete his post honoring the late Dolly Parton after online shenanigans made the tribute not safe for work.
The Texas Republican had re-posted on X a tweet from the @lebatardshowfan account that showed Parton during a 1979 appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.”
“Legend,” Cruz wrote of the performance, adding teardrop, heart and prayer emojis to his post, per The Independent.
But as soon as the post went live, the account holder changed the name of the account to “Ted Cruz’s tiny d—k” so that the now-NSFW account name appeared under Cruz’s tribute.
The account holder then twisted the knife, writing in response to Cruz’s share: “Thanks for the retweet, Ted. Remember in 2016 you told the RNC Convention to ‘vote your conscience’ and then ultimately gave up having any backbone and backed Trump who called your wife ugly? Fun times.”
The Cruz-savaging account name was live on the senators account for at least 17 hours, The Independent said, before it was deleted.
Posters online were quick to lampoon Cruz for his staggering gaffe.
The anti-Trump Lincoln Project called the post the “QT of the year, folks.”
The Tucker Carlson Network said that the account holder, who had reverted to his original name of Mark, was also a legend.
Another poster called the screwup “the second funniest thing to ever happen to Ted Cruz on Twitter,” a likely reference to the time that the senator’s official account liked a two-minute clip from a porno movie.
