A GOP Lawmaker Posted A Truly Wild Anti-Gay Tweet, Blamed His Staff, And The Replies Are Brilliantly Brutal

I mean, even Ted Cruz disagreed with this one.

Pride Month is here, and it's already a doozy!

In case you haven't seen, the governor of Indiana has issued a bogus proclamation calling June "Nuclear Family Month."

Tennessee Republicans are trying the same thing.

And people are, once again, going after Sesame Street for a post about puppet acceptance!!!

I digress. Let's talk about something else insane that happened.

Representative Andy Ogles from Tennessee has a history of posting wild things:

On Tuesday, he apparently crossed the line, posting this message on X: "Homosexuality has no place in America."

Like, what in the Westboro Church early 2010s is this?????

Backlash was quick and came from all sides of the aisle.

GOP New York lawmaker Mike Lawler called it an "absolutely idiotic" statement and told TMZ he was a "f****** idiot."

Ted Cruz even came out against it, telling TMZ, "For all of recorded history, homosexuals have been part of humanity, and I got to say, I’m quite libertarian by nature. I think the behavior of consenting adults is their business."

Then, in a rare act of someone in politics actually admitting they were wrong, the post was gone.

The lawmaker ended up blaming it on a member of his comms team: "Earlier today while working on the farm, my phone began going crazy because of a post made by a member of my comms team. The post was stupid, hurtful and a complete distraction from my America First focus. The employee has been reprimanded."

People are clowning him in the replies.

"Wow, not only did the tweet get deleted, we got an apology. The small remnants of woke."

"This is so embarrassing for you."

And "Ok yeah the vibe shift is REAL."

Sen. Tammy Baldwin from Wisconsin (who is gay herself) had the best reply of all: "Homosexuality has a place in America — and the Senate. Happy Pride!"
