Trump may have ‘terminal illness’ that caused him to back out of signing housing bill: Ted Lieu

A House Democratic leader from California wildly suggested Wednesday that Donald Trump may have canceled a bill signing ceremony this morning because he suffers from a “terminal illness,” adding that the White House “needs to come clean” about the president’s “erratic behavior.”

Trump communications director Steven Cheung ripped Rep. Ted Lieu’s allegation as a “lie,” calling the California Democrat a “dumbass.”

Lieu, vice chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, was referring to a report that Trump, 80, may have been the 79-year-old patient given the experimental obesity and diabetes drug retratrutide under a provision reserved for people with terminal illnesses.

White House senior deputy press secretary Kush Desai denied the allegation on Tuesday.

Lieu suggested a “terminal illness” was just one of the possibilities Trump canceled the bill signing.

“Inflation is up, grocery prices are up, utility costs are up, housing prices are up. We have a bipartisan housing bill that both the Congress and Senate passed. There was supposed to be a big signing ceremony today in the Capitol, and then all of a sudden Donald Trump decides he’s not coming to sign the bill,” Lieu said.

“Well, why is that? Did he wake up on the wrong side of the bed? Is he unable to stay awake today? What’s causing him to chicken out again? Is it TACO Wednesday? Or is it side effects from a drug?” he continued.

“We don’t know,” the congressman went on to say.

“This erratic behavior of the president is very concerning. He’s having trouble staying awake at many White House events and cabinet meetings. He has clearly some weakness in one of his arms. He’s got swelling in his hands. And the White House needs to come clean. What we know is there’s a report saying that one person in America got this special new drug that a 79-year-old person, who is very high profile. And we know that this drug can only be given to someone under the compassionate use provision, meaning you do that if someone, basically, has a terminal illness.

“So we need to know: did Donald Trump get this special drug from Eli Lilly, and did he get it under that provision? And if he did, why is that the case?”

Cheung attacked Lieu over the congressman’s allegations, referring to the Democrat as “Ted Lewd.”

“Ted Lewd is a dumbass. He probably spent hours laughing to himself thinking that peddling this lie would be funny. Sadly for Ted, there’s no special new drug to cure being a b---,” Cheung tweeted.

Trump’s bill signing cancelation blindsided Republicans who want to campaign on the bill during the midterm elections.

But in a post to his Truth Social account, the president said the House’s election bill is a top priority and needs to be passed before he signs the housing legislation.

“Today’s Housing News Conference and Signing is hereby cancelled until such time as we pass the desperately needed SAVE AMERICA ACT, which I consider to be a National Emergency. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” Trump said.

The president was having lunch with GOP senators Wednesday afternoon. Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-South Dakota, has been reluctant to bring the housing bill for a vote.
