He showed another clip of Trump with his eyes closed, saying, "You are literally talking about issues of war and peace, and Donald Trump is sleeping right next to you." Lieu later aired a French TV segment about Trump appearing to nod off at a Memorial Day ceremony, saying Trump's "inability to stay awake on the job has caused other countries to perceive him differently."

"I'm going to ask you to come clean with the American people and the White House as well: There's something wrong with Donald Trump's health or cognitive abilities," Lieu said, per the AP, noting that the president hasn't been seen in public since last week. Rubio called Lieu's line of questioning "absurd and ridiculous." He said it's "outrageous that I'm before the Foreign Affairs Committee of the United States House of Representatives answering questions about sleep."
