Joe Kent, MTG and Thomas Massie tried to convince Tucker Carlson to run for president

Former director of the National Counterterrorism Center Joe Kent said that he, former Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Kentucky GOP Rep. Thomas Massie tried to convince Tucker Carlson to run for president.

During an interview with The Young Turks, Kent said that the group of Republicans wanted Carlson to run because they think Vice President JD Vance is too compromised to run.

“I’d say all of us at one point in time told Tucker he needs to run, and Tucker’s been pretty public that he’s not going to run,” Kent told host Cenk Uygur. “So we all made our pitch to Tucker as to why he should run, and hopefully he wakes up one day and says he’s gonna run. I fully support that.”

Massie, Greene, and Kent have all had a breakaway from the Trump administration most notably because of the war in Iran. Kent resigned from his position because he said that Iran was not a threat to the U.S. and the U.S. was dragged into the war because of Israel’s lobbying.

On Tuesday, Carlson posted a picture of himself alongside Greene, Kent and Massie that was captioned, “MAGA was betrayed. We all were. It’s time for a new path forward. More to come tomorrow night at 6 PM ET on TuckerCarlson.com.”

There has been speculation that the group is trying to form a new political party, specifically after Greene said they wanted to form a new movement.

Kent told Uygur that right now they are working on forming a broad coalition that can also appeal to the left and a new political party could be possible.
