Thomas Massie To Run For President In 2028? Crypto Bettors Price In Odds As Lawmaker Files For Kentucky H
Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) filed on Monday to run for his Kentucky House seat in 2028, and cryptocurrency punters are wagering big on his chances of becoming the GOP presidential nominee.
Not Yet Among The Favorites
Although Polygon (CRYPTO: POL)-based Polymarket assigns only a 3% possibility of this happening, nearly $5 million has been wagered on the outcome.
Vice President J.D. Vance remains the bettors’ favorite to win the nomination with 34% odds in favor, followed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio at 24%.
The Feud With Trump
Massie filed an FEC statement of candidacy for Kentucky’s 4th District House seat in 2028, just days after losing his Republican primary to Ed Gallrein, a former Navy SEAL backed by President Donald Trump.
“This allows me to raise funds to continue my political operations supporting my position as a current office holder and as a potential candidate for federal office,” Massie said in a statement, adding that he has not made a “final decision” on which role to seek.
Trump called Massie disloyal and the "worst Republican Congressman" in history
Massie Isn’t Ruling Out Anything
In a Sunday interview with NBC News, Massie said he wouldn’t “rule out anything” when asked if he’s considering a 2028 presidential run.
