It's an annual April Fool's Day tradition that Tom Wahl's offers a special flavor of questionable culinary merit.

Its concoction for 2026, according to its Facebook post and confirmed via phone call: Fish fry ice cream, which consists of chunks of fish fry and cole slaw mixed into vanilla ice cream. Yum, yum.

Guests may visit any of the local burger chain's seven Rochester-area locations for a free sample. If you take a selfie of yourself trying the concoction on April 1, post it on social media and tag the burger chain, you could win an ice cream of your choice.

Past April Fool's Day flavors have included sauerkraut, cheeseburger and garlic. Tom Wahl's dates back to 1955, when Tom Wahl opened a ice cream and root beer stand in Avon, Livingston County. It is currently owned by the Rochester-based burger chain Bill Gray's and has locations in Avon, Brighton, Greece, Bushnell's Basin, Canandaigua, Fairport and Newark.
