Bama caption contest: Top 20 winners and grinners

This is an opinion cartoon caption contest.

With Tommy Tuberville on his custom ‘Floriduh Man’ banjo and Doug Jones shredding on guitar, we had a musical goobernatorial debate at the virtual Flora-Bama. And y’all supplied the punch lines.

I usually start these caption contests on my Crowe Jam newsletter, giving my subscribers a head start. Subscribers are also eligible to win prizes for their winning captions - like a signed print of the cartoon with your caption (as featured at the top of this page.)

Sign up right here right now and get in on the caption action and other behind-the-scenes stuff. It’s free and pops into your email box every Wednesday morning.

On these music-oriented caption contests, my subscribers know I often drop little clues in the drawing. This contest featured Jones in a black T-shirt and jeans playing a red Fender Stratocaster - a look made famous by Pink Floyd’s epic singer/guitarist David Gilmour.

The very first caption I received was from Crowe Jam subscriber Robert Gray, and he nailed it right off the bat with this entry:

Jones: “Comfortably Numb” vs Tuberville: “Comfortably Dumb.”

You didn’t have to get the Gilmour clue to win, but you do score extra points, for sure. I think there could be several winners in this crop of entries.
