The Democratic Party of Brown County will host a forum on Aug. 3, gathering all the Democratic candidates for the 8th Congressional District.

It will be the last scheduled event where voters can consider the candidates side-by-side before the Aug. 11 primary election.

The winner will face Republican U.S. Rep. Tony Wied, who has amassed tens of thousands more dollars in campaign contributions than any Democratic challenger. They will also face a district of over 435,000 constituents from the Michigan border into the Fox Valley that has not sent a Democrat to the House of Representatives in two decades.

Here’s what to know.

Who will be at the forum?

Former Green Bay School Board member Rick Crosson has campaigned on growing the Democratic Party’s appeal as an insider. Musician Katrina deVille has cast herself as a political outsider and campaigned on a platform of Democratic socialism. Former wealth advisor Mark Scheffler has campaigned on a progressive platform and a promise to be an independent.

When and where will the forum be held?

The forum will start at 6 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Christie Theater, on the first floor of the University Union at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

What’s the format? Can I ask questions?

The forum will last for an hour, at minimum. More time will be given as needed for audience discussion, according to the county party.

Former Democratic 8th Congressional District candidate Kristin Lyerly will moderate.
