Carl wins GOP nomination for Alabama’s 1st District
DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) -- Former Rep. Jerry Carl took the GOP nomination for the Alabama 1st District seat during Tuesday's special election.
Carl beat out three contenders with 75% of the vote. He will face Democrat Clyde Jones in November.
Carl represented this district from 2021 to 2025. He lost the GOP nomination to Barry Moore, who previously served Alabama's 2nd District, in March 2024 after the state's congressional lines were redrawn.
Moore is currently running to replace Tommy Tuberville in the U.S. Senate, and will face off against Everett Wess in November.
