Alabama congressional primary results: Winners emerge in key U.S. House races

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WBMA) - Several candidates have secured their party nominations in Alabama congressional races Tuesday night, setting up matchups for the next stage of the 2026 election.

Results as of 10:04 p.m. show declared winners in the Republican primaries for U.S. House Districts 1, 2 and 6, as well as the Democratic primary in District 6. The Republican primary in District 7 remained incomplete.

Jerry Carl won the Republican nomination in Alabama's 1st Congressional District, defeating Austin Sidwell, John Mills and Lucas Burger.

Carl received nearly three-quarters of the vote with 99% of precincts reporting Tuesday night.

The race comes as incumbent Republican Rep. Barry Moore is running for U.S. Senate rather than seeking reelection to the House.

Carl will face Democratic nominee Clyde Jones.

Rhett Marques won a six-candidate Republican primary in Alabama's 2nd Congressional District.
