A look at Alabama's 7th Congressional District Republican candidates ahead of the primary
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) — Republican voters in Alabama's 7th Congressional District will soon choose their party's nominee in the special primary election.
To help voters compare the candidates side by side, ABC 33/40 asked Republican candidates Ammie Akin and David Perry the same five questions about their qualifications, priorities and vision for the district.
Akin pointed to her 25-year career in education as the experience that best prepares her to represent one of Alabama's most diverse congressional districts. She said she has "been in classrooms across the state" as "a teacher, principal, nonprofit leader" and has also taught "the next generation of principals and superintendents at the University of Alabama."
She argued that her professional background mirrors the diversity of the district itself, saying, "With a background as diverse as mine and a district as diverse as District 7, that's why I'm the best fit." Akin added that working with people has defined her career, saying…
