Lakeview economist enters District 1 congressional race as Libertarian
Steve Parsons, a Lakeview economist and retired consultant, has entered the race for Arkansas’ 1st Congressional District seat after receiving the Libertarian Party of Arkansas’ nomination at its February convention in Little Rock.
Parsons, who holds a Ph.D. in economics, said his campaign centers on reducing government size and expanding individual freedoms.
“Voters deserve another choice besides the two parties with a stranglehold on politics,” Parsons said. “Those two parties have an abysmal record at controlling the size of government, government spending, taxes and regulations.”
Parsons moved to Lakeview in 2016 with his wife, Dr. Susan Parsons, a retired pathologist. He previously worked as a consultant with clients worldwide and spent more than 20 years as an adjunct professor teaching the Economics of Technology to graduate engineering students at Washington University in St. Louis.
