Jay Feely and Amish Shah to meet in televised debate
Democrat Amish Shah and Republican Jay Feely will go head-to-head in a televised debate Oct. 7, the day early voting begins in Arizona.
The program, hosted by Arizona's Citizens Clean Elections Commission, will be the highest-profile forum so far in the race for the state's 1st Congressional District.
The race is one of the most competitive in the country.
Most election analysts have rated it a toss-up, though some predict Shah has the upper hand.
Feely, a former Arizona Cardinals kicker endorsed by President Donald Trump, beat out two other candidates for the Republican nomination, including a hardline conservative challenger.
Shah, an emergency room doctor and former state lawmaker, won the Democratic nomination even after national party groups spent millions of dollars opposing him.
The program will air live at 6 p.m. Arizona time. It will also be livestreamed on www.azcentral.com.
Election Day is Nov. 3, 2026.
