U.S. Rep. Vince Fong, R-Bakersfield, is far and away leading in the 20th Congressional District, surpassing the next highest candidate by more than 10,000 votes.
According to early results from the California Secretary of State’s office, as of 9:19 p.m. Tuesday, with 74.3% of precincts partially reporting, Fong had 69.2%, or 54,333 votes. The next closest candidate was Democrat Sandra Van Scotter, who had 28%, or 21,938 votes.
