2026 Election Results: In CA-43, D-Maxine Waters and Cristian Morales lead
Rep. Maxine Waters, one of the longest-serving members of the House, continued to lead on Wednesday afternoon in a four-person race to represent California’s 43rd Congressional District.
Challengers include fellow Democrats Myla Rahman, executive director of a nonprofit that provides vision care to communities that are underserved, and David Sedlik, an aerospace sales engineer. Republican Cristian Morales, a manufacturing executive, also is running for the seat.
Shortly after 4 p.m., the Los Angeles County registrar’s office showed Waters leading with 62.16% of the vote, followed by Morales at 19.85%, Rahman at 13.76% and Sedlik at 4.23%.

The top two vote-getters in the primary election, regardless of party affiliation or even if one person gets more than 50% of the vote, will face off in the November general election.
