Chris Shea wins Republican primary in CT’s Fifth Congressional District, will face Jahana Hayes in November
WOLCOTT, Conn. (WFSB) - Chris Shea won the Republican primary in Connecticut’s Fifth Congressional District on Tuesday night, according to the Associated Press.
Early returns showed Shea leading fellow Republican Jonathan DeBarros 80% to 20% with 26% of the total vote reported when the race was called.
Shea is projected to win nearly all 41 towns in the district.
Shea, a retired Navy SEAL and local firefighter, will face Democratic incumbent Jahana Hayes in the November general election.
State Senator Eric Berthel, R-Watertown, and several other members of the legislature attended Shea’s victory party in Wolcott.
