Osceola County will keep its property tax rate the same

WKMG · September 22, 2026

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – The property tax rate will stay the same in Osceola County.

Commissioners on Monday voted unanimously to maintain the general fund millage rate at 6.7 mills for the 16th consecutive year.

The millage rate is the tax rate used to calculate local property taxes, with one mill equaling $1 of tax for every $1,000 of taxable value.

So, for instance, on a property valued at $200,000, the property owner would pay $1,340 in general fund county property taxes (this doesn’t include other taxes like school taxes).

The county said to hold the line on the millage rate, it cut planned expenditures by $12 million, instituted a hiring freeze, and postponed nearly $92 million in capital projects.

The budget is more than $3.1 billion, paid for with a combination of general revenue property taxes, impact fees, and various funds. The final budget is about $24.4 million less than the fiscal year 2026 budget.
