Ceretta Smith wins runoff in Democratic U.S. House primary
AUGUSTA, Ga. — Former Grovetown City Council member Ceretta Smith won the Democratic nomination for U.S. House in Georgia’s 12th Congressional District.
She now advances to run against Republican incumbent Rick Allen in November.
Smith represented the city of Grovetown for six years and called the community home for 20.
She ran on the pillars of access to health care and building better schools.
She defeated fellow Democrat Traci George in Tuesday’s runoff.
Scott got 55.8% of the votes, compared to 44.2% for George.
