Who's running in 2026? At least 45 file candidacy as GEC reviews nominating petitions late into the night

Democrats and Republicans may have to compete for their parties’ nominations this year, with the candidacy filings teasing contested primaries in the gubernatorial, legislative, and delegate races.
At least 45 individuals and teams filed their candidacy with the Guam Election Commission by the Friday deadline.
But four teams of GEC staff were still counting signatures on nominating petitions for last-minute filers Friday night, according to Election Commission Executive Director Maria Pangelinan.
Among candidates listed as filed by 8 p.m. were six gubernatorial teams, three candidates for Guam’s delegate to Congress, and a total of 36 candidates for the Guam Legislature.
After finishing review of nominating petitions, the Election Commission must ratify all the filings, Pangelinan said.
