Melissa Bean projected to win 8th District Congressional race in Illinois' Democratic primary
With U.S. Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi leaving his position in the eighth district to run for U.S. Senate, his Congressional seat is up for grabs, with several Democrats and Republicans vying for spots on the November ballot.
On the Democratic side, former Rep. Melissa Bean was projected to win in the Illinois primary, according to NBC News, securing her shot at a political comeback.

Bean appeared to best her more progressive opponent Junaid Ahmed, who was endorsed by names like Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.
Having been endorsed by Sen. Tammy Duckworth and Nancy Pelosi, Bean now has a chance to reclaim the spot she lost 16 years ago to conservative Joe Walsh in 2010. Her campaign focuses on affordability for the middle class, immigration fairness and due process, affordable healthcare and more, according to her campaign website.
