Big primary wins put Nikki Budzinski, Jeff Wilson on November ballot

After months of campaigning, Democrat Nikki Budzinski and Republican Jeff Wilson have won their primaries, setting both local leaders up for November’s midterm election.

The Associated Press first called Budzinski’s race at around 8:39 p.m., with 68% of precincts reporting a 50-point lead over challenger Dylan Blaha. Jeff Wilson’s win was called just after 8:50 p.m., when he had a 30-point lead over Joshua Loyd.

Budzinski, the incumbent, received a shot at keeping her district seat for a third consecutive term. With 95% of the votes in, Budzinski received 43,407 votes (75.5%), and Blaha got 14,055 votes (24.5%).

In a statement posted to social media, Rep. Budzinski committed to keeping the 13th district at the center of her work in Washington.

“The victory is a strong signal that what we’re doing is resonating with voters who are ready for Democrats to take back the majority in the House of Representatives,” she said.
