Underwood stops in Oglesby to celebrate $1M in federal funding
The City of Oglesby’s bill for water service and treatment got a little lighter following a visit from its representative in Washington.
Rep. Lauren Underwood (D-Naperville), who represents Illinois’ 14th district, appeared at City Hall on Friday to celebrate the granting of federal funds to the city’s ongoing projects with Oglesby officials.
“I want to thank the City of Oglesby for letting us be a part of this great project,” she said. “Having clean drinking water is essential, and there are so many communities that find themselves in an urgent place of needing to replace, enhance and expand their services.”
Underwood secured the $1,020,800 in Community Project Funding for the “Clean Water Project in Oglesby” to help the city replace 2,100 feet of water pipes impacted by lead and/or asbestos-cement.
Through the Community Project Funding from Underwood, the funds aim to help protect public health and safety and lower costs for the community of Oglesby.
