Indiana’s Other Congressional Battles: Seven House Races to Watch in November 2026

INDIANA — With Indiana's May primaries settled, the state's congressional ballot is taking its final shape for the November 3, 2026 general election. Every one of Indiana's nine U.S. House seats is on the ballot, but the political terrain varies dramatically from Northwest Indiana to the Ohio River.

Hoosier Enquirer has separately examined the races in Indiana's 2nd and 3rd Congressional Districts. That leaves seven contests — Districts 1 and 4 through 9 — that will help determine whether Indiana sends essentially the same partisan delegation back to Washington or produces an upset somewhere on the map.

Republicans currently control seven of Indiana's nine House seats. Democrats hold two. National election handicappers see relatively little genuine competition across the state, with the 1st District in Northwest Indiana standing out as Indiana's most obvious potential battleground.
