Trump endorses Republican Barb Regnitz for Indiana’s First Congressional District
President Donald Trump has endorsed Republican candidate Barb Regnitz for Indiana’s First Congressional District.
In a Truth Social post, Trump said Regnitz is a successful businesswoman, software engineer, civic leader and “prior to becoming a distinguished Porter County Commissioner, Barb is a proven leader who has dedicated her life to serving her community.”
Trump continued to criticize U.S. Rep. Frank Mrvan, D-Highland, who is seeking reelection, writing that Mrvan opposed steel tariffs, no tax on tips, no tax on overtime and no tax on Social Security. Trump continued to state that Mrvan wants to increase taxes and open borders.
Congress has the constitutional authority to place tariffs, Mrvan previously said. The Trump administration’s tariffs have been burdening farmers, Mrvan previously said, which has translated into an increase in the cost of food in grocery stores.
