Rudy Yakym sits down with WNDU, defends outreach approach and touts district’s economic strength
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Indiana’s 2nd District Rep. Rudy Yakym sat down with WNDU’s Joshua Short Thursday afternoon, addressing storm recovery efforts in his district, constituent criticism over his absence from open-format town halls, and the economic condition of the communities he represents.
Yakym said he visited downtown LaPorte Wednesday, meeting with Mayor Tom Dermody, local residents and farmers affected by recent storms.
“This is one of the biggest storms to come through and knock power out,” Yakym said. He added that some farmers could be without power for several weeks.
Yakym encouraged storm-affected residents to contact his office for help navigating available resources.
“If there’s anyone that has issues and they don’t know where to go or they don’t know where to turn, we want Hoosiers to always think of my office as their first call,” he said.
