Spartz addresses flood recovery, workforce shortage
Addressing a crowd of local business leaders Aug. 19 at the Promenade Trails Community Center in Noblesville, U.S. Rep. Victoria Spartz answered questions about recent floods across Hamilton County and the nation’s workforce shortage.
The presentation was part of The Exchange, an initiative by the Noblesville and Westfield Chambers of Commerce designed to bridge the gap between regional employers and public policymakers.
Spartz, a Republican seeking reelection in Indiana’s 5th District, said flooding hit particularly hard in areas with high poverty rates. She has been working with Indiana Gov. Mike Braun to navigate recovery on a federal level.
Following the immediate crisis, she said state and federal agencies began coordinating broader disaster relief.
“We need help from the (Federal Emergency Management Agency) to help with federal funds for underinsured communities, and that needs to be a major disaster declaration,” said Spartz, a Noblesville resident.
