Coalition cancels 6th District candidate forum after Shreve doesn’t respond
A coalition of organizations that had planned a candidate forum for Indiana’s 6th Congressional District has said they canceled the event after Republican incumbent Jefferson Shreve’s campaign did not respond to requests to participate.
The coalition, which includes local chapters of the League of Women Voters, NAACP and Indivisible, along with South INDY-visible, the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Columbus and other groups, announced the cancellation this week.
Shreve is seeking a second term representing Indiana’s 6th Congressional District in the Nov. 3 election. Democratic nominee Cinde Wirth is challenging him.
Organizers said they asked both campaigns to provide two available dates by July 31 so volunteers could secure a venue, arrange livestreaming, coordinate watch parties and publicize the event.
