Rep. Ron Estes files for reelection
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - U.S. Representative Ron Estes officially filed for reelection on Tuesday as he looks to hang onto his post representing Kansas’ Fourth Congressional District that includes Wichita.
Estes, a Republican, was sworn into office in 2017 after winning a tight special election for the seat that was formerly held by Mike Pompeo who moved on to serve as Secretary of State in Donald Trump’s first presidential term.
District 4, covering 17 southcentral Kansas counties, has been represented by a Republican since 1994. U.S. House races come up every other year.
In his latest reelection bid, Estes is the lone Republican in the race so far. If this holds, he’ll move on to the November general election. If at least one other Republican candidate emerges, a primary election in early August will determine the party’s representation on the November ballot.
