Heartland Votes: UNOFFICIAL 2026 Kentucky Primary Election results

KENTUCKY (KFVS) - Kentucky voters headed to the polls for Primary Election Day on Tuesday, May 19.

The polls opened at 6 a.m. and closed at 6 p.m.

Voters from each party helped to decide which candidates will move on to the general election later this year.

Races include U.S. Senate, U.S. Representative 1st Congressional District (Republican ballot), county leaders such as sheriff, magistrate, jailer, judge/executive, clerk and more.

Charles Booker won the Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate and Andy Barr won the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate. Both men are looking to fill the open Senate seat left by retiring U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell.

In the 1st Congressional District, unofficial numbers show Republican James Comer as the winner in the primary with 88 percent of the vote. Comer beat out fellow Republicans David Sims, Robert Sutherby and Penny Arcos in the race. He will face Democrat Drew Williams in November.
