Judge grants release of woman with sickle cell detained by ICE at Louisville airport
A woman detained by ICE at Louisville's airport has been granted release just days after a Kentucky congressman urged the federal agency to free her.

Rep. Morgan McGarvey held a press conference on Wednesday calling for ICE to release Sarafinah Bukirwa, an immigrant from Uganda, who had been in custody since July 22.
She was detained at the Louisville airport. ICE said she overstayed her visa that expired in 2024.
McGarvey said Bukirwa applied for asylum and was following the law.
The congressman and her family said she has sickle cell anemia and was being denied treatment at the Grayson County Detention Center.
Grayson County Jailer Jason Woosley refuted the claims that Bukirwa was not receiving treatment for her disorder.
On Friday, an order was submitted in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky with a judge ordering the release of Bukirwa on bond.
