Trump-backed candidates score big in primaries

A slew of candidates backed by President Donald Trump won big in their May 19 primary races, intensifying the midterm election cycle ahead of November.

Voters in six states – Alabama, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Oregon and Pennsylvania – went the polls to determine nominees for the November general elections.

The races included congressional seats as well as gubernatorial and other state government roles.

Trump stirred up the primaries in a series of Truth Social posts, including some slamming Rep. Thomas Massie, a vocal critic from within the GOP who has now been ousted by Ed Gallrein.
