LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Democrat Melissa Strange enters race for Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District

Kentucky’s 4th District congressional race will feature a Democratic challenger this year after Republican Thomas Massie ran unopposed two years ago.

Melissa Strange, a businesswoman from Erlanger, says she decided to run after hearing concerns from friends across the district, including Republicans. “There wasn’t a real presence here,” Strange said, adding she wants to be more visible and engaged across the district.

Strange’s campaign slogan is “Think differently…vote Strange.” She says she plans to visit all 21 counties regularly as she tries to flip a district that has elected Republicans to the House since 2004.

Strange will face Republican Ed Gallrein, who defeated Massie in the GOP primary by about 10 points, unseating the 14-year incumbent.
