U.S. Congressman Andy Barr & USDOT Secretary Sean Duffy highlight ongoing modernization at Blue Grass Airport (LEX) in Lexington
LEXINGTON, Ky. – (August 14, 2026) – U.S. Congressman Andy Barr (R-KY-06) welcomed U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy to Blue Grass Airport (LEX) in Lexington to highlight ongoing modernization efforts happening thanks to the Working Families Tax Cut Act and Barr’s consistent advocacy in the region. In addition to his crucial vote to invest $12.5 billion into America’s air traffic control system, Barr helped secure $5.4 million in federal funding for Blue Grass Airport to support design work and the beginning stages of relocating the airport’s air traffic control tower. LEX is also receiving a $3.8 million investment from USDOT to upgrade restrooms to make them more family friendly.
