New Louisiana congressional map splits Calcasieu Parish between two districts
Calcasieu Parish is one of several parishes split between two districts in the new congressional map for state of Louisiana.
Gov. Jeff Landry approved the state’s new congressional district map on Friday.
Within the map, Calcasieu Parish is split between District 3, a seat held by Republican Clay Higgins, and District 4, which is represented by Republican Mike Johnson.
The boundary between the districts traces the Calcasieu River from the border of Calcasieu and Cameron parishes up to Westlake, then follows the Sam Houston Parkway — except for a small portion that goes up to Sistrunk Road — until it reaches Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway going south as it hits the Calcasieu River once again, flows into English Bayou and then follows Interstate 10 east to the parish line.
